According to Puranas, Narshimha form appeared during sunset of Chaturdashi and hence the rituals are carried out during the sunset. One of these is Ani Thirumanjanam, the pradosha abhishekam on the evening of the day of Uthiram star in the Tamil month of Aani (June-July). The word Thirumanjanam meansHoly bath.
